South Australians for Climate Action was established in 2021 by a small group of friends and colleagues who wanted to see SA build on our success with clean electricity and respond effectively to the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.
We are volunteers and we are rigorously non partisan, because the politicisation of climate change has been a major barrier to progress.
Our approach
We believe that SA needs a shared plan led by the government.
Using our networks, we approached SA businesses, organisations and individuals to help draft and endorse a Statement containing concrete actions.
The signatories to the Statement include over 100 businesses and organisations and 80 individuals who are engaged in all aspects of SA economic and social life – farming, food and wine, education, environment protection, nursing, law, medicine, architecture, engineering, unions, housing, transport, energy, retail, philanthropy, fitness, land management, social policy, aged care, faith-based organisations and more.
We published the Statement and list of signatories in March 2022.
Our current program is to engage with the state government on development of a comprehensive climate change action plan for South Australia.
